We desire a humane criminal justice system that prioritises addressing trauma as a means of changing violent behaviour. This includes resources targeted towards prevention, reducing offending and reoffending through person-centred approaches.

Our partnerships are built on the shared acknowledgement that the majority of violence is perpetuated by the conscious and unconscious enactments of White supremacy. This occurs within the Criminal Justice system and indeed wider society, and non White racialized bodies are left to internalise this form of oppression.

Mission

To help those impacted by the criminal justice system, or at risk of being impacted by it’s violence, to access support services that enable them to process traumas, while having access to peaceful and supportive community.

Our Approach

As a relatively small funding organisation, our Advisory Board has chosen the below areas in order to prioritise our potential impact, while focusing on the least funded gaps within the Criminal Justice sector.

  1. Frontline organisations

We fund community based organisations who are working directly with service users, supporting them to deliver highly impactful person centred approaches that evidence and later influence government policy.

2. Research

We identify specific areas of research and practice that address the root causes of those entering the criminal justice system and to reduce offending and reoffending rates, while improving quality of life for service users in an impactful and measurable way.

we look to partner with frontline organisations who:

  • Are majoritively led by folks racialized as not White.

  • Have an annual income of or less than £500,000

  • Prioritise trauma informed approaches for their programmes

  • Are committed to measuring their impact, able to ask for help when struggling, and are serious about governance sustainability

  • Are able to demonstrate commitment and deep knowledge of anti-oppressive practice and collective care withint their work.

We specialise in supporting and or funding front line organisations to:

  • Measure long term qualitative impact and data

  • Provide and or support frontline employees of organisations to receive trauma therapy and supervision from inclusive and diverse therapists who work with the experience of racism as a form of trauma

  • Help organisations to strengthen their anti-oppressive framework
